Our office is at 8820 Columbia 100 Parkway, Suite 201, in Columbia, positioned off Route 100 between Route 29 and I-95. For patients coming from southwest Baltimore, Catonsville, Arbutus, Elkridge, and the communities along the I-95 and Route 1 corridor, the drive is generally twenty to thirty minutes outside peak traffic.
Because TMS is delivered across a course of sessions rather than in a single visit, travel time is a real part of the decision. Our Clinical Coordinator will talk through scheduling with you at the free consultation, before anything is committed to, including whether earlier or later appointment windows would make the commute workable.
The Baltimore metro has TMS providers. What patients tell us they were looking for and could not easily find is a practice where the medical director holds board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry alongside adult psychiatry, and where that physician personally conducts evaluations and determines treatment parameters rather than delegating them.
For families with a teenager, that is often the only reason they are willing to drive. Adolescent TMS should be overseen by someone trained in adolescent psychiatry, and that combination is genuinely uncommon.
For adults, it reflects the same thing: Dr. Greenberger has more than twenty years of experience treating patients across a range of mental health needs, and he owns the practice he works in.
Adults with major depressive disorder who did not achieve satisfactory improvement from antidepressant medication in their current episode. This is the primary adult FDA indication for NeuroStar.
Adults with depression and co-occurring anxiety symptoms. NeuroStar is indicated for decreasing anxiety symptoms in adult MDD patients who exhibit comorbid anxiety. See TMS for anxious depression.
Adults with OCD, for whom NeuroStar is indicated as an adjunct treatment. See TMS for OCD.
Adolescents ages 15 to 21 with major depressive disorder, for whom NeuroStar is indicated as an adjunct treatment. See TMS for teens.
Veterans. We accept TRICARE and work with veterans whose depression has not responded adequately to medication. See TMS for veterans.
Free consultation. A 30 to 60 minute meeting with our Clinical Coordinator covering how TMS works and whether you may be a candidate. No cost, no obligation.
Evaluation. A 60 minute appointment with Dr. Greenberger reviewing your mental health and psychiatric history.
Motor threshold determination. On your first treatment day, Dr. Greenberger and a certified TMS Treater identify your individual treatment location and determine your dose. Anatomy differs between patients, so this is personalized. The visit runs about 60 to 90 minutes and includes your first treatment.
Treatment course. Coordinates are recorded so later sessions begin without repeating setup. Patients remain awake and alert throughout and return to normal activity the same day, including driving.
In a large registry study of patients treated with NeuroStar TMS, 83 percent of patients who completed the treatment cycle saw measurable improvement in their depression symptoms, and 62 percent likely would not have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder if newly evaluated after treatment (Sackeim HA, et al., 2020, Journal of Affective Disorders, 277(12):65-74).
Individual results vary. The evaluation exists to determine whether TMS is a reasonable option in your specific case.

The most common is pain or discomfort at or near the treatment site, which is temporary and usually stops after the first week of treatment. There is a rare risk of seizure, occurring in fewer than 0.1 percent of patients.
